What if a partner's monitoring system is inadequate?
NZAID’s partners’ existing monitoring systems may not be able to provide sufficient information for Activity management, or to track outputs and assess progress towards achieving development outcomes.
In some cases the partner may recognise that there is a need to strengthen their monitoring systems and request resources to do this. In other cases we may have to look for ways to increase partner awareness of the importance of collecting information for effective management and for measuring and reporting progress. In practical terms this often involves identifying a well-placed ‘champion’ who is willing to promote the benefits of having access to good quality information.
The focus should always be on trying to help partners to move towards improved, results-focused management, supported by appropriate management information systems.
