Human Rights Mainstreaming Guideline
What Are Human Rights?
Human rights make up an internationally shared and accepted legal framework. They set standards which reflect global moral and political values. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights provides the basis for the international human rights treaties developed in the last 50 years. Human rights are universal: they are the same for everyone everywhere, although the ways in which they are implemented vary between regions and countries. See the NZAID Reference Guide on Mainstreaming Human Rights or Waharoa for more information about human rights treaties.
