What does this guideline cover?
This guideline sets out key concepts, principles, and funding practices which guide NZAID’s engagement with civil society organisations (CSOs), within New Zealand and off-shore. It establishes consistent parameters but still leaves scope for the particular elements of individual funding windows.

What will this guideline do?
The guideline will:
- assist programme staff in their engagement with civil society organisations, whether in New Zealand or off-shore
- promote consistency in NZAID’s engagement with civil society organisations across the various funding windows and programmes in the agency
- recognise that consistency across a diverse range of funding streams does not mean uniformity.
Who is this guideline for?
This guideline is for any NZAID staff member whose work requires them to engage with civil society organisations.
It is particularly relevant to Team Leaders, DPMs, NZAID Managers, Post staff, and other programme staff; but is also relevant for staff in the Contracts, Finance and Communications Teams.
Off-shore staff should read this in conjunction with the programme tool Designing In-Country Managed Funds.
This guideline may be of interest to others such as civil society organisations and consultants.
